Massbach, IL – Massbach Ridge Winery is proud to annouce their results from the Finger Lakes International Wine Competition. All eight wines entered in the competition were awarded a medal from various categories.
In a very impressive showing, Massbach Ridge Winery's Cherry Rose' was awarded a Double Gold medal for wine blend. The semi-sweet rose wine is sweetened with Door County cherry juice to complete its compelling flavor.
Seven other wines were awarded bronze medals in various classes: Traumen, a sweet red wine; Marechal Foch, a newly released red wine; St. Pepin, a semi-dry white; Ridge Red, a smokey red wine; Sunrise Red, a semi-dry rose; and Vignoles, a sweet white wine.
"We are very excited about our success at the international competition, especially after only two years of production! It's a real testament to the quality of wine our Jo Daviess county grapes can produce. Our wine varieties can compete with producers from around the world," commented Massbach Ridge winemaker Peggy Harmston.
Established in December 2003, the family-operated vineyard and winery prides itself in creating quality wine with grapes grown in Jo Daviess County. The tasting room is open Friday - Sunday from noon to 6 pm or by appointment. Winery tours are given upon request or during special events.
