The most fun time of the year! And the busiest. The grapes have turned color and softened up. They are getting sweeter as I write this. And it’s time for the harvest to commence.
The aromas are spectacular as you walk through the vineyard. If you haven’t experienced it before, you have to come out during the first few weeks of September before all the grapes are picked. It’s an experience you don’t want to miss.
And of the course, the aromas throughout the winery smell of fermentation and new wine!
Marechal Foch is always the first grape to get picked in the Massbach vineyard. But before we finish with the many acres of Foch, we may move to my favorite grape, St. Pepin. St. Pepin takes priority for prime picking time. Next comes Vignoles, Frontenac and Concord.
Please join us soon to enjoy this harvest season and local wine!
